The closing ceremonies of the “Maraka-e-Haq” Azadi Sports program organized by the Sindh Sports Department were held in the East and West districts of Karachi, in which more than 400 young athletes participated. A tribute was paid to the Pakistan Army on this occasion.
Boys and girls participated with great enthusiasm in badminton, volleyball and boxing competitions and demonstrated national unity and patriotism. The closing ceremonies were attended by Rangers DSR Arshad Beg, Additional Secretary Asad Ishaq and several Deputy Directors and District Sports Officers among other dignitaries.
District East defeated District Central 2-0 in the volleyball competition. In badminton, Muzammil Wasim and Ali Gul secured the first position in the boys’ competition while Hussain and Hamza came second. Ajo and Saba secured the first position in the girls’ competition while Roshan and Huda came second.
In District West, the boxing competitions included 22 weight categories. Jannat of One ABC Club won the girls’ 30 kg final while Ayesha of KBC Club won the 44 kg title. In the men’s competitions, Taimoor and Farooq of KBC Club won the 51 kg and 70 kg categories respectively. Trophies and certificates were distributed among the winners.
