Thrissur (India), October 13, 2019 (PPI-OT): Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Kannan Gopinathan, has deplored the plight of the people of occupied Kashmir. Kannan Gopinathan, who resigned from service in protest against human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir, was addressing a conference in Thrissur city of Indian state of Kerala.
He said, denial of human rights to the Kashmiri people and exclusion of a group of people in Assam in the name of Citizenship Amendment Bill are against the Constitution. A Marx, a human rights activist from Tamil Nadu, said what is happening in Kashmir and Assam now will be repeated soon in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Roop Chand Makhnotra, an activist from occupied Kashmir, explained the human rights violations by Indian troops in the occupied territory after the scrapping of its special status. Slogans like ‘Reinstate peace and democracy in Kashmir and Assam’ were raised in the conference.
