Customs Quetta seizes foreign goods worth Rs160m

QUETTA:Customs Quetta on Tuesday claimed to have seized foreign goods worth Rs16 million.

 

According to Customs Quetta information, a Customs Quetta team in collaboration with Frontier Corps Balochistan seized 110,000 litres of foreign diesel from a container at Lakpass check post.

 

Customs Quetta said that Irani diesel was to be smuggled to Quetta. Separately, staff of customs seized 50,000 kilograms of betel nuts from LPG gas bowser and trucks in different operations conducted at Surab, Nushki and Lakpass.

LG minister sees PDM movement to be victorious

KARACHI:Provincial Minister for Information, Local Government, Forests and Religious Affairs Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the PDM movement will be successful and the nation will soon get rid of the incompetent government of PTI.

 

He said this while talking to media outside Sindh Assembly on Tuesday. He said that there was always a problem of gas shortage in winter season but the governments made arrangements in advance to deal with it so as to reduce the impact on the people but the incompetent federal government had not taken any action in this regard and particularly purchase of LNG in time

 

“People’s lives have become unbearable because of the federal government’s policies,” he said. Unemployment, inflation and now the gas crisis are caused by the irresponsibility of the federal government. “It’s a big scandal,” he said. Responding to a question, he said that apart from vehicles and industries, domestic consumers did not have access to gas which had severely affected their daily lives.

 

Replying to another question, Shah said that special attention had been paid on the cleanliness in Karachi city. “There has been a lot of improvement after the appointment of administrators in the local bodies. Expenditure has also come down.” Citing the example of Karachi’s Central District, he said that in the era of local bodies, 17,000 tons of garbage was collected from the district every month at a cost of Rs 15 million per month but now 46,000 tons of garbage is being collected every month at Rs 10.3 million.

 

He said that on the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, mega development projects had been launched in Karachi. Some had been completed while some are in progress, In response to a question, he said, “As a political worker, I am saying that the incompetent government is coming to an end soon.”

 

25 released Bengalis being sent back to their country: Sindh governor

KARACHI:Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Tuesday said that as many as 25 Bengali prisoners who were spending tough life in jails for minor crimes or were unable to submit imposed fines, were released from prisons and were being sent back to their country.

 

Addressing a news conference at the Governor House, he said that the initiative of getting the prisoners released was the effort of Pakistan Red Crescent Society. The released prisoners were also given $200 as financial assistance besides flight tickets, said Imran Ismail. The Governor appreciated the efforts of Chairman PRCS Abrar-ul-Haq and his team for the initiative. He said PRCS was becoming a vibrant organization and assured his full support.

 

To a question, the Sindh governor replied that implementation of Karachi Transformation Plan was underway and its results would be historical. He said under the Karachi package announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan major issues of the megalopolis including transportation, sewerage and others will be resolved. Replying to a question about gas shortage, Imran Ismail said that all out efforts were being made by the government to overcome the shortage of gas.

 

He said the gas resources were depleting and its shortage was not limited to any particular city or province. It was high time to move towards alternative energy. The Governor said that Pakistan was heading towards right direction of progress and development. “All the indicators were showing positive results either it’s the economy or any other segment”, he added. Also present on the occasion, Chairman PRCS Abrar-ul-Haq said we are serving the humanity and people of this country following the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan.

 

Air Chief says Chinese Military Aviation Technology is at par with contemporary requirements

KARACHI:Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force has said that Chinese Military Aviation Technology is at par with contemporary requirements and has full capacity to meet the challenges of modern warfare.

 

He was expressing his views after flying an air superiority sortie in a Hi-Tech Chinese fighter aircraft during ongoing exercise Shaheen-IX. Lauding the professionalism of PLAAF pilots, the Air Chief said that the outstanding air combat skills of PLAAF pilots are reflective of robust and modern combat training program of PLAAF.

 

Expressing his satisfaction over the conduct of the exercise, the Air Chief said that it was heartening to see the two Air Forces inter-operating across a wide spectrum of airpower employment options.

 

He also said that in modern times competition in the air domain centers not only around mastery of technology, but also on its artful application in both strategy and tactics. He added that Shaheen series of exercises will go a long way in enhancing the professional skills and operational preparedness of both the Air Forces in addition to developing mutual understanding of each other’s combat skills and promoting inter-operability. It is pertinent to mention that the joint Air Exercise Shaheen IX that commenced on 09 Dec, 2020 has now entered its last phase.

Balochistan CM prays for recovery of Buzdar from Covid

QUETTA:Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has prayed for the early recuperation of Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar, a chief Minister office statement said today.

Quetta-Karachi highway blocked against gas shortage

QUETTA:Quetta-Karachi main highway was blocked at Chutu area of Mastung against non-availability of gas.

 

Protesters, including women, staged a protest sit-in on Quetta Karachi highway at the site of Chutu, District Mastung, blocking highway for all kind of traffic.

 

Demanding gas supply for the residents of Mastung, protesters said though gas valve had been laid some five years ago, but gas connections had not been provided to many villages of district Mastung.

 

They said time and again the matter had been brought into the notice of higher authorities of SSGC, but no action had so far been taken. They called on authorities to provide gas facilities to all the areas of Mastung.
