Labour Minister irked by medicine given at SESSI Landhi Hospital; seeks six month procurement record

Karachi, June 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): Provincial minister for labour and human resources Simon John Daniel visited SESSI Landhi healthcare facility and went around emergency, various wards, operation theaters, laboratories, store rooms, kitchen and pharmacy. Medical superintendent Dr. Junaid Rajpoot and deputy medical superintendent Dr. Zulifqar Memon briefed him about the medical facilities being provided to workers and their families.

Provincial minister disappointed while checking medicine in the pharmacy and added that what kind of medicine was being provided to patients? “Eighty percent of medicine was of local companies”, provincial minister observed. He sought last six month details of medicine procurement from the medical superintendent.

Earlier M.S Landhi hospital Dr. Rajpoot told that this 225 bed hospital was dealing with largest OPD and also delivering health care facilities to patients of interior Sindh. He said that we were facing shortage of funds and consultants. Referring to security of the hospital, deputy superintendents Dr. Zulfiqar Memon said that private security company hired, has very low standard and suggested for providing security of Rangers’ standard due to surrounding environment of area.

On the occasion, union leaders of workers also met with caretaker provincial minister and presented suggestion pertaining to improvement in health facility to workers. Union leaders told that patients were often referred to Jinnah and civil hospitals due to shortage of consultants/specialist doctors. Union leaders demanded to refer them to highest standards health care facilities like Agha Khan Hospital. Provincial minister assured them to solve their issues and called them for detailed meeting at his office.

Excise and Taxation Department achieves tax targets: Mushtaq Ahmed Shah

Karachi, June 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): Provincial Caretaker Minister for Irrigation, Inter Provincial Coordination, Public Health Engineering, Rural Development, Excise and Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has said that the role of the Excise and Taxation Department in collection of the taxes is very important and he was really pleased to hear that the Excise and Taxation Department has achieved its target of tax collection hundred percent for the fiscal year 2017-2018. This he said while presiding over a meeting in his office here on Monday.

Secretary Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Aijaz Ahmed Mahesar, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh and Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other Directors also attended the meeting. Director General Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh, while briefingthe caretaker Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Shah regarding the different components of the Excise and Taxation Department, told that besides collection of various taxes the Department also curbed the activities of the drug paddlers across the province.

Provincial Caretaker Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Shah said that he would make his utmost efforts to redress the issues of the department and added that the officers should continue to work hard and give the best results as they did in the past. On this occasion Director General Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh informed the caretaker Minister that he would submit the detailed report of the tax collection soon.

Karachi, June 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): NAB Sukkur team arrested proclaimed offenders Tarique Aziz s/o Muhammad Afzal Pathan, Govt Contractor and Ali Hassan s/o Gullo Shaikh. Accused Tariq Aziz was arrested on 25th June 2018 was involved in Ref. No. 12/2018 State Vs Abdul Khalique Panhyar Ex-Executive Engineer Highway Division Kashmore and Others. He was involved in misappropriation of government funds which were not properly utilized in roads department at District Kashmore. Accused was produced before Accountability Court Sukkur on 25th June 2018 and the Court remanded him to judicial custody.

Another accused Ali Hassan s/o Gullo Shaikh was arrested on 25th June 2018. He was involved in FIR No. 03/2018, 05/2018, 06/2018, 10/2018 and 11/2018 which were transferred from District and Session Court Ghotki to Accountability Court Sukkur. Reference no. 03/2018 state Vs Amanat Ali Golo and others is under trial at Accountability Court Sukkur. He in collaboration with main accused Amanat Ali Golo cheated public at large in the context of doubling the amount. Accused will be produced before Accountability Court Sukkur on 26th of June 2018 for judicial remand.

No food can replace mother-feed: Dr Saadia Rizvi

Karachi, June 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): Provincial caretaker minister for Health, education and Population Welfare Sindh, Dr Saadia Rizvi has said that the rate of breastfeeding is around only 37 % in across the Sindh and this is one of the main reasons of diarrhoea and other childhood disease causing death of thousands of children. This she said while addressing the breast feeding promoters initiative program organized by Nutrition’s support program and others at DOW University Karachi.

Dr Saadia Rizvi stressed health care providers to give adequate time to counsel and convince the mother for giving breastfeeding to beings from the very start. She also asked the paediatricians and Government departments to work in Coordination and She offered full support of Government of Sindh for this very important task.

On this occasion Dr. Zahoor Baloch program manager Nutrition support program Sindh briefed about the program. Pakistan Pediatric Association, Society of obstetrician, UNICEF and Nutrition Support program are collaborating. In first phase 12 districts of Sindh will be covered which are Khairpur, Ghotki, Umerkot, Noshehroferoze, Sanghar and six districts of Karachi. All the health staff linked with delivery and care of child will be trained and subsequently they will counsel and help the mother for breastfeeding,

Prof Jamal Raza President Pakistan Pediatric Association Sindh presented the action points for improving the breastfeeding situation in Sindh. Prof Jamal asked the help of media and suggested to improvement current act and law of infant feeding. He also recommended updating this act according to WHO code of 2016 asking to ban the advertisement of all under 3 years milk formulas.

Prof Sadia Paul Vice President Society of Obstetricians explained the role to be played by health workers so as to start breastfeeding just after Dr. Mazhar of UNICEF offered all support and expedites for this and other programs for improving of child health states of Sindh. Prof. Kertar Principal Dow Medical Collage mentions the leading role of Dow University in vending community Health programs. He also offered full support from Dow university in future programs as well.

Chief Secretary Sindh, Election Commissioner Sindh, IGP Sindh and other officer meet for arrangements of General Election-2018

Karachi, June 23, 2018 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Sindh Major Rtd. Azam Suleman khan has stressed the need to ensure the Fool Proof arrangements for conduction of free fair and transparent Election / General Election-2018. While presiding a meeting in C.S House on Saturday the Chief Secretary instructed all concerned to do the needful for providing all facilities viz. portable water, toilet, electricity and entry/ exit for convince of the voters and election staff.

The meeting attended by the Provincial Election Commissioner Muhammad Yousuf Khan Khattak , IGP Amjad Javed Saleemi, SMBR DR. Iqbal Hussain Durrani, Secretary Home Haroon Ahmed, Secretary General Administration Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Secretary Implementation Mohsin Ali Shah, Secretary Finance Dr. Noor Alam and M.D, SPPRA Muhammad Aslam Ghouri, discussed the certain administrative arrangements in respect of holding General Election-2018.

The Chief Secretary asked the Secretary Home to remain in close coordination with Election Commission Pakistan, Sindh Police and all concerned departments while Secretary of School Education and Implementation and Coordination were directed to jointly monitor and arrange all facilities pertained to the Polling Stations in consultation with the divisional / district administration.

Last chance and last extension up to 31st December 2018 for revalidation / computerization of Arms Licence

Karachi, June 23, 2018 (PPI-OT): In a statement issued here, Home Secretary Sindh has advised masses of the province that to save your weapons registered on Manual Arms Licences from forfeiture and to save yourself from legal action. He said that the last date for revalidation / computerization of Manual Arms Licences issued by Government of Sindh has been extended up to 31st December 2018.

It has been classified thatin case of failure to get the Manual Arms Licences Registered till 31st December 2018, the un registered Manual Arms licences shall be cancelled and the weapons registered on these shall be forfeited, such licence holders shall be liable to legal action. He further said that this is the last chance for revalidation computerization of Manual Arms Licence and there shall be on further extension.
