Pakistan Peoples Party Khairpur district under the leadership of Nawab Ali Wassan organized a mammoth public gathering in Kumb town overnight to mobilize party activists and supporters to join upcoming ceremonies to commemorate the 17th death anniversary of its former party chairperson Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on December 27.
Thousands of PPP activists and supporters attended the gathering at Kumb Stadium where they paid a glowing tribute to their martyred party leader. During the ceremony, the PPP leaders Nawab Ali Wassan and his son Muhammad Talal Wassan were worn with golden crowns in recognition of their public service.
Enthusiastic workers and supporters showered flowers on Nawab Wassan’s convoy which reached the program venue in the shape of a rally.
In his address, Nawab Wassan paid glowing tribute to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, describing her as a great leader of Asia who fought tirelessly for women’s rights and democracy. “Shaheed Benazir strengthened democratic institutions with her sacrifices, but the enemies of democracy martyred her,” he said.
“Today, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is carrying her mother’s mission forward by challenging the enemies of democracy,” Wassan added.
