LARKANA:Accountant General, Sindh, Ghufran Memon, has described the Sindh province as model province in Pakistan which has made pension system 100% online for which he praised the efforts of World Bank.
He was addressing a ceremony held at District Accounts Office Monday for inauguration of GP Fund Facilitation Centre. Memon said there was only one way to eliminate Sifarishi culture in payment of retired and in-service government servants to make online salaries, pension and resolve their other issues which was making everything online to maintain transparency and eliminate corruption.
Memon said that there are over two lakh pensioners and over five lakh government servants in Sindh. He said within ten months after taking over charge he has introduced online system for pensioners in the entire province and GP Fund Facilitation Centers have been opened in 19 districts of Sindh adding other centers in leftover districts will also be opened during the current month by 30th August. He said he has ensured that government servants should not feel any difficulty in getting their own money adding if marriage of any government servant’s daughter is not made then relevant District Accounts Officer (DAO) and I will be responsible because of non-payment.
He directed all the DAOs to update all record of GP Fund of all government servants by 31st December and ensure it online. He said no complaint has so far been made to him against Larkana DAO which means that work here is satisfactory. Memon said teams will be sent to every DAO office to listen to the grievances and resolve complaints of the retired employees.
DAO Altaf Mangi claimed that 100% pension cases of 10,658 retired employees in Larkana have been made online. He said number of Sindh Government employees in Larkana district is 26,726 and federal government employees are 112. He said GP record of most of the employees has been made online and rest will soon be carried out. Deputy AG Saeed Ahmed Khokhar and other relevant officers attended the gathering.
