KARACHI: Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) administration has installed 18 high resolution closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at different locations of hospital for patient safety, monitoring of staff behavior and security of institution.
An administrative official of hospital told PPI that more than a dozen CCTV cameras were not functioning in healthcare centre since several years due technical faults which are creating problem for administration to monitors wards and other unethical particles in the premises of hospital. Therefore, the administration has installed 18 new cameras at different sites of institution to improve surveillance system.
Currently, there were 50 CCTV cameras functioning in THE hospital for monitoring of wards, emergency, ICUs, administrative block and other departments under IT Department. However, ten others were also separately being operated in Gynecology Units of THE hospital.
The CHK management has decided to install 50 more high-quality CCTV cameras to protect hospital employees and patients from security breaches, through surveillance cameras.
Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr Sabir Memon, while talking to PPI said new cameras have been installed in the hospital with help of donors by replacing the old cameras.
He said formal request has also be sent Sindh health department for release of budget to install more CCTV cameras to improve monitoring system and also meet other needs.
