KARACHI:Toy guns led to injuries to 45 children during Eidul Fitr holidays in Karachi. The cases were reported in Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) hospitals, as Sindh government failed to implement ban on sale and purchase of toy guns in local markets of the city.
The children were seen playing with toy guns in streets and using the toys against each other to stage a battle. Score of children get injured while playing with toy guns every year during Eid and other festivals.
Senior Director, Medical and Health Survives Department KMC Dr Birbal Genani while talking to PPI said as many as 45 kids sustained eye related injuries during Eidul Fitr holidays and they were brought to Spencer Eye Hospital for treatment.
He said most of the kids received injuries in the eyes because the toys did not caused injuries to other body parts.
Dr Birbal informed that 50 people were also reported in Accident and Emergency Department of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital with road-related accidents during Eid holidays. He further informed that 40 others were also brought to the hospital due to over-eating in Eid days.
