KARACHI:The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Friday summoned DG Civil Aviation and sought details about the cancelled and delayed flights long with details of action taken by ASF, Customs and other related stakeholders to redress problems of passengers.
The bench heard a petition filed by a citizen against delay in flights and lack of facilities to passengers.
Justice Gulzar summoned additional director general of Civil Aviation (CA) Tanveer Ashraf, who later appeared before the court.
Earlier, assistant director of CA appeared before the court. The bench showed displeasure over delay in flights. ‘What happens to passengers when a flight is delayed, Justice Gulzar asked.
Assistant Director replied that related airline is responsible for delay in flights.
Chief Justice remarked that drugs and smuggled currency are recovered at airports but there no footages of recovery is presented before courts.
The bench remarked in one case Airport Security Force (ASF) had footages but it did not produce them before court and the court acquitted the accused.
Chief Justice remarked everyday flights are delayed and passengers face a lot of miseries.
The bench – sought details of last one year regarding the delays in flights. It also sought report of maintenance of all airports within two weeks.
The court also summoned director general CAA on next hearing.
The court ordered CAA to submit a detailed report regarding the cancellation and delays in flights besides asking customs and ASF to also submit their reports.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
