KARACHI:Metropolitan Commissioner of KMC Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman on Monday issued directives for collection of KMC land rent in accordance with the market rate so that revenue generation could be made better. He also directed that market survey should be conducted and auction of empty plots, shops and stalls be carried out on transparent manner and participation of citizens in it be ensured.
He said this during a meeting in KMC head office, which was also attended by the heads of departments besides financial advisor Dr Asghar Abbas Shaikh, senior director coordination Masood Alam and director technical SM Shakaib. The commissioner said that notices should be issued to the petrol pump owners on the KMC land so that rent on market rate could be recovered from them also.
He said that the challans issued from various KMC departments must have the consumer number. The commissioner said that focal persons had been nominated from different departments of KMC for cases pending in courts. The residents of the approved schemes should contact the lease department of KMC for obtaining leasing rights of their land.
He urged the revenue officers to speed up their work to get the required results. Tenders of all works of Landhi and Korangi zoo have been issued and development works started. Metropolitan commissioner also established a committee headed by the financial advisor to submit its recommendation on the preparation of auction of KMC land.
