Bahawalpur: Governor Punjab, Ch Muhammad Sarwar has said that the students should excel in contemporary disciplines of knowledge especially Information Technology (IT).
He stated these remarks while addressing the 14th Convocation of Islamia University of Bahawalpur as chief guest here on Friday.
He said “we have to eliminate illiteracy and excel in the modern world through education”.
He advised the students to obey and respect their parents and never to forget their roots. The Governor said that Bahawalpur is a city of gardens and palaces and a vital seat of learning of Southern Punjab.
He stated that he has always strived to serve Pakistan and people of Pakistan in whatever capacity he can and urged the students to contribute towards the progress of motherland.
He appreciated university’s contribution in 10 Billion Tsunami Clean and Green Pakistan campaign under the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He directed the Vice Chancellor of the university to produce electricity from Solar Energy and provide clean drinking water.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq apprised the Governor and Chancellor of the University, Ch Muhammad Sarwar about the university’s progress and developments.
The Governor distributed medals and degrees to the graduates and scholars of academic session 2018. At the end, Vice Chancellor presented university souvenir shield to the Governor.
The convocation was attended by Commissioner Bahawalpur Nayyar Iqbal, Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Muhammad Faisal Rana, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Muhammad Ayoub Khan, District Police Officer Bahawalpur Dr Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Deans of Faculties, teachers and students of the university.
