Karachi:Growing terrorism in Pakistan is the bitter fruit of wrong policies adopted by the previous Pakistani rulers to fight a proxy war in Afghanistan, said Pasban e Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor.

In a statement here Friday, he expressed grave concern on brazen attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi and deadly bomb blast at Hangu. He said we are reaping what the Pakistani rulers had sown in past. He said it is now an open secret that the war that we fought in Afghanistan was not our war. He said we lent unconditional support to an alien war in Afghanistan and incurred huge human and financial losses. He regretted that the US just discredited our friendship and sacrifices in Afghanistan. He said the recent outburst of the US President Trump against Pakistan should be an eye-opener for we naïve Pakistanis. He said we lack a proper accountability system in Pakistan and today no one is asking from the previous rulers why they opted to join a proxy war in a neighboring country.

He said it is a bad luck of this nation that we got the rulers who were slaves of other nations. They did not think for Pakistan and Pakistanis but used all their energies to serve their foreign masters. He said the Afghan war has already failed and the US would have to leave that country sooner or later. He said the growing terrorism in Pakistan could also be the frustration of the elements, who are facing a huge defeat in Afghanistan.

Altaf Shakoor advised the sitting government to learn from the past mistakes and devise true pro-Pakistan policies, internally and externally. He asked the government to pay special attention to the sagging economy and make policies to generate more internal revenue and utilize available resources in the best possible way. He said our young population is our most precious asset and by giving them proper education and training, we can change the fate of Pakistan. He demanded to review curriculum at every level and to modernize our schools, colleges and universities on war footing basis. He asked for opening more and more technical training schools and colleges in the length and breadth of Pakistan.

Pasban President said our megacities, especially Karachi, are our revenue engines. He regretted that both the federal and provincial governments have been ignoring much-awaited development of Karachi, which is a big tragedy. He demanded that the needed funds for updating Karachi civic infrastructure, especially in mass transit, industry, education, healthcare and housing sectors should be provided at federal and provincial level. He said the M-9 Motorway from Karachi to Hyderabad and the National Highway from Karachi to Thatta to Keti Bunder should be turned into modern industrial corridors to generate millions of new jobs for our youth.

Altaf Shakoor demanded improving security situation in the country so that the enemy can be defeated in its nefarious designs of spreading panic and terror in the country. He said all nation-building departments should focus on the uplift of the country and government should also show seriousness and statesmanship to steer the country clear of the crisis instead of useless witch-hunting of opposition.
