KARACHI:Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi (MAJU) head of Management Studies, Dr. S.M. Noman Said that MAJU’s all Bachelors and Masters degree programs have been updated in the line with directives given by Higher Education Commission (HEC).
He said that admissions in MBA Professional and Regular degree program had been stopped from next semester Fall-2019 and MBA Graduate degree program will be called now Masters in Business Administration (MBA) only. This he stated while he was presiding over Management Sciences Department, Board of Studies (BOS) meeting last evening at faculty lounge. The BOS members who attended the meeting were Saeed Mujahid, Ghulam Muhammad, Shah Zaib Khan, Ibrahim Shamsee, Shafiqur Rehman, Fariha Khalid and Maryam Hanif Ghazi. External members of BOS Management Sciences, Dr. Usman Aleem and Dr. Tariq Jalees from PAF-KIET and Dr. Ameena Zehra Ali of Karachi University also attended the meeting.
The issues relating to review of existing and new degree programs, admission policy, departmental activities and implantation on the recommendations of last BOS meeting were discussed at length during the meeting. Addressing to the BOS meeting, Dr. Noman Shah said that at present the candidates having Psychology degree are given preference for appointment in HR departments of all public and private sectors organizations. Similarly, for the posting on senior positions in all organizations, officers having ability to understand workman psychology are being posted. He said that keeping in view of present job market requirement, we have launched a new degree program of BS-Psychology from next semester.
He told that in this new degree program due importance has also given to the study of Clinical, Educational and Children psychology. He further said that in order to bring people having BA,BSC and B.Com degree on completing 14 years education at par with international standard of 16 years education for graduation, we have also launched two years duration Career Transition programs of BBA-Professional and BS-Accounting and finance from new semester, Fall-2019. He said that on completion of our Career Transition program, the old graduates will be able to find job opportunities in international job market and to take admission in Master’s degree programs in the universities of any country of their choice.
