KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday reserved its judgment on a plea filed by Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, who is currently adviser to the Sindh chief minister on prisons and inter-provincial coordination, seeking removal of his name from Exit Control List (ECL).
A two-member bench of the SHC, headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, heard the case and reserved its judgment on it. The judgment is expected to be announced in the next hearing.
During the hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor told the court that there are two inquiries continuing against Jakhrani. He said Jakhrani is facing inquiries pertaining to the corruption in Jacobabad highway project, and making assets beyond his known sources of income.
Barrister Mohsin Kadir Shahwani, the counsel of Jakhrani, argued there are several cases in which the accused were allowed to go out during the trial. He pleaded the court that his client has a medical check-up so he may be permitted to go.
