KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar has said that former Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar has put an axe on his own foot and now he should shun politics and stay at home.
On Saturday talking to media after appearing before an anti-terrorism court in the May 12, 2007 riots cases, he said: “Sattar’s time is over now; he should let people do their work.”
He admitted that as city mayor he could not deliver, owing to lack of cooperation from government. “We could have served the people of the city well if resources were made available on time and the federal government had given a financial package,” adding that Karachi didn’t get what it deserved.
Talking on ongoing anti-encroachment drive, he said make-shift stalls have reemerged at the places where encroachments were removed. He demanded the authorities to resolve the issues of squatters of Pakistan Quarters, Karachi.
