Hyderabad:Economic package of the federal government presented in recent minibudget was rejected by Sindh Chamber of Agriculture.
In this regard a meeting of the Chamber was held with their President Qabool Muhammad Khatian in chair, participated by members through video link in Hyderabad, Karachi, Sanghar, Sukkur, and Ghotki.
It noted that the cut in Urea fertilizer price by Rs200 rupees is a joke with farmers. It said before PTI government a bag of Urea was available at Rs1380 while the price of DAP bag was Rs2800. However, now Urea’s price is Rs1850 and DAP price Rs3800 per bag. The announcement of Federal Minister Asad Umar ordered to cut in rate by Rs200 is not acceptable.
The Chamber demand to lower the prices of Urea and DAP to the level of their rates during previous government. They also demanded that wheat support price should be set at Rs1500 per Maund.
In meeting it was felt that in country and especially in Sindh the problem of food security could arise as Kotri and Sukkur Barrages were facing low water supply.
