KARACHI:The traders’ community is observing a shutter-down strike on Saturday across the country against the government after a hike in sales tax in the federal budget 2019-20.
The Pakistan Traders Association has given a strike call across the country in protest against unfair taxes imposed by the federal government.
Several associations representing traders across the country, including All Karachi Tajir Ittehad, Karachi Electronic Dealers Association and All Sindh Saraf and Jewelers Association have supported the call.
According to traders, they want the government should remove the new condition that traders must present their CNICs for purchases over Rs50, 000. The protesting traders want to keep the government deadlock going because they want to pressure the government into accepting their demands.
