LARKANA: A condolence meeting at the local hotel was held by Sindhi Adabi Sangat (SAS), Larkana Branch, to pay homage and rich tributes to eminent writer Shaukat Hussain Shoro, writer and poet Ghulam Hussain Rangrez, historian, researcher and progressive Islamic scholar Maulana Azizullah Bohiyo.
Addressing the gathering, Hafiz Sikander Ali Tunio, a known political and social activist said that Maulana Azizullah Bohiyo spoke of human freedom and equality in Islam. When One Unit was imposed Maulana Azizullah created awareness among the people and argued for the rights of nationality found within Islam. Maulana Bohiyo was a child of the poor who had earlier said that one day the fake religion would fall because people would rebel against that type of religion that is coming now. He said that there are feudal lords and those claiming greater socialism, but socialism and feudalism are contradictory. Sindh is burning now, Sindh’s woes are growing so don’t vote for bigotry and sincerely try to join any political organization for further struggle, Tunio added. He said that Maulana Azizullah taught us not to change the religion of people in the offer of love because religion can be changed with happiness.
Writer Yamin Baloch said that literature is the perfect expression of knowledge and writers are representative of nations so a writer wants to connect himself with the society to make himself popularized by his writings and he writes in his writings on social injustice and inequality to make an ideal society. Ghulam Hussain Rangrez and Shaukat Hussain Shoro also tried to create a society, he said adding Shoro linked his mood with his writings. People who knew Rangrez and Shoro recognized their language, literature and culture. Shaukat Shoro has expressed in his dramas and stories about social injustice and Rangrez has done poetry not to appease any government or exploitation classes but to create a society in society and to love the Earth.
Rauf Abbasi said that Rangrez and Shaukat Shoro are our patrons. They never accepted the shadow of official patronage and paid nothing by state steam and settlement. He said that the people of Lar have a beauty of their own. He said that many writers of Sindh sold themselves to the government but Shaukat Shoro and Ghulam Hussein Rangrez neither sold themselves nor bow down before the rulers.
Joint Secretary of the branch, poet and radio composer Khawar Achary said that SAS is for all those friends who are thinking and looking for literature. He said that the dramas of Shaukat Hussain Shoro are unfolding before the eyes even today like a dream adding his dramas are the most unique. He said Ghulam Hussain Rangrez’s poetry is like white milk and it makes life in love with the Earth today.
Poet Koral Qurbdar said that Maulana Azizullah was a true worshiper of the Earth and its people, his lectures and speeches are still matchless today. The work done by Rangrez and Shuro will continue to inspire society for centuries.
