Government approves decision to generate electricity from solar

Islamabad, September 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):The government has approved a decision to generate electricity from solar instead of expensive imported fuel to save valuable foreign exchange. The approval was given at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday. The Prime Minister directed to ensure early construction of solar power plants. He asked the relevant departments to initiate work on the project on emergency basis. Shehbaz Sharif directed to hold a pre-bid conference for all stakeholders this week. Under the project, ten thousand megawatt of power will be generated from solar. Addressing a news conference in Peshawar on Thursday, he said a strategy has been evolved for the restoration of electricity in these areas on an emergent basis. Prime Minister convenes meeting of party’s lawmakers to review flood relief activities

The meeting will hold consultations on addressing complaints and grievances of flood victims besides rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts. The Prime Minister had directed the party’s elected representatives to participate in the flood relief activities, and the meeting will review implementation of the directions. The President is being briefed about relief and rescue arrangements for the flood-affected people in DG Khan. Earlier, Dr. Arif Alvi arrived in Dera Ghazi Khan to review rescue and relief operation in flood affected areas. Radio Pakistan correspondent Sajjad Pervaiz reports that the president will also visit the flood affected areas of South Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan today.
