Pakistan clinch West Indies series despite injury to batter

An injury to opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has cast a shadow over Pakistan’s 2-1 T20I series victory against the West Indies in Florida.

Zaman sustained a hamstring injury during the second match and will miss the remainder of the tour, including the upcoming ODI series. He will return to Pakistan for rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

Despite Zaman’s absence, Pakistan secured a 13-run win in the final T20I, their seventh consecutive T20I series win against the Caribbean team. Spinner Mohammad Nawaz was named Player of the Series for his seven wickets at an impressive average of 10.

Openers Sahibzada Farhan (74) and Saim Ayub (66) laid the foundation for Pakistan’s imposing total of 189/4 with half-centuries. Although Alick Athanaze (60) and Sherfane Rutherford (51) offered resistance for the West Indies, Pakistan’s bowlers, including Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, and Nawaz, held their nerve to clinch the victory.

The two teams will now face off in a three-match ODI series commencing on Friday in Trinidad.
