On the instructions of Provincial Minister for Rehabilitation, Makhdoom Mehboob Zaman, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA Sindh) has taken immediate steps for drainage of water in view of the recent rains. PDMA Sindh Director General Syed Salman Shah confirmed that traffic flow in Karachi has not been affected, crediting the timely installation of machinery for drainage.
As a precautionary measure, 16 high-powered dewatering pumps have been strategically installed in various areas of Karachi. The purpose of these installations is to drain rainwater quickly so that there is no obstruction in the flow of traffic and pedestrians. Deputy Director Operations, Syed Muhammad Sheyan Shah, inspected key locations like the Native Jetty Bridge and Gulbai area, where high-capacity pumps are operational.
