Punjab Police’s Anti-Drug Campaign, 05 People Arrested, 101 Cases Registered

Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Safe Punjab” project, Punjab Police continues its vigorous campaign against crime. In a major operation yesterday, law enforcement agencies arrested 105 people and registered 101 cases in connection with drug smuggling, while a large quantity of drugs was also seized.

To improve security and law and order across the province, authorities conducted 522 search operations, in which 14,142 people were searched and 32 suspects were detained. In a separate crackdown against electricity theft, which has caused heavy financial loss to the national treasury, 68 people were arrested and 190 cases were registered.

This crackdown has also extended to dangerous activities like kite flying, resulting in the arrest of two individuals, registration of two cases, and confiscation of 32 kites. Action against traffic violations also continued, with 44,782 violations ticketed, Rs 31 million in fines collected, and 19 vehicles emitting excessive smoke impounded. Simultaneously, the department facilitated the issuance of 29,503 driving licenses. Citizen services also continued, with 17,247 individuals utilizing 14 different services through police service centers.
