Amid growing concerns over persistent smog across Pakistan, health experts are highlighting a less visible but potentially more severe threat: indoor air pollution.
According to data from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today, the air inside homes can be two to five times more contaminated than the air outdoors, as harmful pollutants become trapped and circulate in enclosed spaces.
This prolonged exposure to indoor contaminants like dust, smog particles, and allergens poses a significant health risk to residents, particularly during smog seasons when people tend to stay indoors more frequently. The issue has elevated air purification from a lifestyle choice to a household necessity.
In response to this escalating health concern, electronics manufacturer GREE, represented locally by the DWP Group, has initiated a “Breathe Better, Live Better” campaign. The initiative aims to raise awareness and provide technological solutions to improve indoor air quality for urban families.
‘Indoor air pollution is a growing concern, especially during smog season when families spend more time indoors,’ stated Rizwan Butt, COO – CE Division at DWP Group. He noted that the company aims to offer technology that ensures clean, healthy air inside homes, describing the products as “reliable, accessible, and effective solutions for improving everyday living.’
The company has introduced new air purifier models to address different household needs. For larger living areas up to 35 square meters, the GA-350W1 model is available at a retail price of Rs. 59,900. It features a 4-layer filtration system designed to remove up to 99.99% of airborne particles.
The unit provides 360-degree purification with a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 350 for particles and 200 for formaldehyde. Its Turbo Inverter Motor is designed for high airflow with lower energy consumption.
For smaller spaces like bedrooms, covering up to 20 square meters, the GA-170W1 model is offered at Rs. 39,900. It is equipped with True HEPA and Activated Carbon Filters to capture fine dust, PM2.5 particles, smoke, and odors.
This compact unit has a CADR of 100 CFM, operates at a low noise level of 32 decibels, and includes features such as a sleep mode, an 8-hour timer, and a real-time PM2.5 digital display.
To ensure the continued effectiveness of the devices, the DWP Group provides nationwide support through its DWP Care network. This service includes access to replacement filters, which have a typical lifespan of six to twelve months, facilitating straightforward maintenance for users.
As urban air quality continues to decline, the campaign underscores the message that access to clean air is a fundamental need. GREE and DWP Group are highlighting the role of air purification technology in safeguarding health by reducing exposure to harmful indoor pollutants.
