Capital’s Top Cop Orders Rapid Case Disposal and Lawful Elimination of Habitual Offenders

Islamabad’s Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) today issued a stern directive for the immediate clearance of all pending cases and has called for the lawful “elimination” of habitual offenders from society in a major push to curb criminal activity.

The directive was issued by DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq while presiding over a meeting with investigation officers and complainants, where a comprehensive review of ongoing inquiries was conducted.

He instructed all officers to significantly improve their performance and ensure stringent legal action is taken against individuals implicated in serious crimes.

The DIG emphasised that all cases must be investigated strictly on merit and with complete transparency. He ordered that inquiries be concluded at the earliest opportunity so that challans can be submitted to the relevant courts without delay.

Further directions were given to enhance effective patrolling, bolster crime prevention measures, and strengthen action against criminal elements. Special instructions were issued to tighten the grip on repeat offenders.

Stressing the need for modernisation, the DIG called for the investigation process to be equipped with contemporary technology in line with evolving requirements, reiterating that all pending cases must be finalised purely on merit.

He added that the ongoing restructuring of the Investigation Wing aims to guarantee the timely and merit-based completion of investigations and to improve the quality of criminal case inquiries, thereby tightening the net around criminals and working to eradicate crime from society.
