35 Detained, Including Foreign National, in Major Capital Security Sweep

Police have taken 35 suspicious individuals, including one foreign national found to be residing illegally, into custody for verification following a large-scale security operation across the federal capital.

According to an Islamabad police report today, tThe citywide search and combing operations were launched following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of a renewed effort to curb crime and crack down on criminal elements.

Supervised by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, and monitored by zonal SPs, the extensive manoeuvres involved the inspection of over thirteen hundred individuals and hundreds of properties.

During the citywide sweep, law enforcement officials scrutinised a total of 1,393 people, 507 households, 201 shops, and 55 hotels. Additionally, 225 motorcycles and 98 other vehicles were thoroughly checked.

Alongside the detained persons, 28 motorcycles were also impounded and shifted to the relevant police station for further investigation.

SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza stated that the objective of these security initiatives is to ‘tighten the noose around criminal elements and further enhance security across the city.’

An official police statement confirmed that similar operations are being conducted throughout the district as part of a continued, indiscriminate campaign against criminals, with a focus on land grabbers and drug dealers.

The Islamabad Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious activity to their nearest police station or by contacting the emergency helpline ‘Pucaar-15.’
