Dozens Taken in for Questioning Amidst Sweeping Security Operations in the Capital

Authorities have taken 43 individuals into custody for verification following extensive search and combing operations across the federal capital, part of a new initiative to enhance city-wide security.

According to a Islamabad police report today, the large-scale manoeuvres, conducted under the supervision of SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza, involved the inspection of 784 people, 346 residences, 52 commercial establishments, and three hotels. Law enforcement officials also scrutinised 280 motorcycles and 115 vehicles, impounding 37 bikes and two cars for further investigation.

The heightened security measures were implemented following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aimed at curbing criminal activities throughout the city.

SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, confirmed that the purpose of these security sweeps is to ‘tighten the noose around criminal elements and further enhance security across the city.’

Officials have affirmed that similar operations are being conducted across various districts as part of an indiscriminate crackdown on lawbreakers, with a particular focus on land grabbers and narcotics traffickers.

The Islamabad Police have also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities to their nearest police station or the ‘Pucaar-15’ emergency helpline.
