A comprehensive operation against crime across Karachi resulted in over 1200 arrests last week, and 34 separate clashes between law enforcement agencies and suspected criminals.
According to a press release issued today by the office of the Additional IG Karachi, multiple encounters took place between the police and alleged robbers during this intense campaign. As a result of these exchanges of fire, 63 suspects were taken into custody, 47 of whom were injured. Authorities also seized 52 illegal weapons, one car, and 23 motorcycles following these encounters.
In total, more than 1,234 individuals were detained on various charges during the week-long crackdown in the city’s East, West, and South zones.
A large quantity of drugs, worth millions of rupees, was also seized. The recovered narcotics include 9 kilograms and 75 grams of hashish, as well as 2 kilograms and 424 grams of ice/crystal and heroin.
A large cache of illegal weapons was also recovered during the operations. Over 111 weapons of various types and their ammunition, believed to be used in street crime and other illegal activities, were recovered from the arrested individuals.
Additionally, police also recovered 31 snatched or stolen motorcycles and three larger vehicles from different parts of the city during the operation.
