Sukrand Laborer Protests Against Karachi Police, Political Parties Express Solidarity’

A laborer from Dilyal Dero, a village near Sukrand, protested against the alleged torture and illegal actions of Karachi’s Sachal Police.

The affected individual, Abdul Karim Mallah, told journalists on Thursday that he had moved to Karachi with his family in search of employment during the 2022 floods and was making a living by selling water.

He claimed that some influential individuals began demanding extortion from him. When he refused, Mr. Mallah alleges that Sachal Police illegally arrested his young son, Imran, who was later severely injured in a fake police encounter.

Furthermore, he states that his other sons, Amir Ali and Abdul Ghani, were forcibly disappeared by law enforcement officials. The laborer has demanded intervention and justice from higher authorities.

Mr. Mallah stated that he had previously protested against these injustices for more than 60 days at the Karachi Press Club, but these efforts yielded no significant results.

. Hundreds of residents, including prominent figures such as Mumtaz Mallah, Moro Mir Bahar of JSQM, and representatives of STP and Awami Tehreek, as well as Mehr Dhabai of Awami Sath, have been called to express solidarity and support for this protest.
