Brussels, August 09, 2019 (PPI-OT):The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed met European Union officials at the EU headquarters in Brussels. The meeting with heads of Pakistan-Afghanistan and Indian affairs at External Action Service of EU in Brussels was also attended by senior advisor of KCEU and former Ambassador of European Union, Anthony Crasner, and another office-bearer of Council, Ms Ramona Benazir.
The KCEU Chairman informed the European officials about the latest situation in the region especially the situation developed after Indian action of revoking special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Ali Raza Syed said that the EU’s officials expressed concern on the situation in occupied Kashmir and said that they were keenly observing the situation in the region.
He said, Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and it is not a part of India. He said, Indian action of revoking special status of Kashmir and increasing atrocities against the Kashmiri people will have serious consequences. He informed the EU officials that situation in occupied Kashmir is severe and many political leaders and activists are under detention. Life in the territory is paralyzed and people face severe hardships.
The KCEU Chairman asked the EU officials to play effective role for prevention of the violations of human rights by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir and resolution of Jammu and Kashmir according to the wishes of Kashmiri people.
Ali Raza Syed, after the meeting in a press release, said, the meeting, which lasted for more than one and half hour, took place in a constructive atmosphere. He added that the EU officials listened to their concerns and urged for further updates in coming days in the context.
