KARACHI: Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) held its Annual General Body meeting at Sir Syed Tower in which the minutes of the last meeting were approved unanimously.
Addressing the meeting Tuesday, it was informed that Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT) is going to launch new technologies. AIT was the only institution in Sindh that started online education first. New lab of Software Technology was established with 35 latest computers to provide the best facilities to the students. Sports Complex will be made at AIT.
Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said that although the whole social and cultural structure has changed into a new mode of routine life due to Covid, yet we successfully endeavored not to let the situation affect the academic activities, maintaining our quality performance.
Presenting annual report, General Secretary (Honorary) AMUOBA, Muhammad Arshad khan, said that the lease for the Sir Syed Tower has been achieved for another 99 years’ period and the outstanding amount of property tax has also been paid.
Sir Syed University provided online education to the students during Covid and proved its excellence achieving 98.49 % rating by HEC for which the university was selected for Higher Education Data Repository among 13 universities. The World Bank sponsored this project.
He pointed out that Sir Syed University as an important partner with Ministry of Information and IdeaJist established National Ideas Bank that was inaugurated by the President Arif Alvi at Aiwan e Saddar. The university in collaboration with Health and Social Welfare Association is preparing automatic prosthetic limbs. The university has signed 58 MoUs with national and international organizations of different countries like China, Indonesia, Turkey, Syria and European Union. Advisory Board has been established to upgrade the syllabus and labs.
The designs of Main Gate and the mosque have been prepared for the new campus of Sir Syed University at Education City. Agriculture activities are going on there along with recently launched tree plantation campaign. Construction work will start soon at the 200-acre land of Sir Syed University New Campus in Education City.
