PESHAWAR:A meeting of the senate on the budget of Khyber Medical University for the financial year 2021-22 was held at Governor House Peshawar on Monday under the supervision of Governor, KP, Shah Farman.
The meeting formally approved the budget after reviewing the priorities and technical aspects of the budget of the said university for the financial year 2021-22.
Later, separate meetings of the Senate were also held on the budget of the University of Peshawar and the University of Chitral for the financial year 2021-22 in which the budget priorities and technical aspects of the said universities were reviewed and formally approved.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Senate meetings of the public sector universities of the province for the financial year 2021-22 were held for the first time before the expenditure, whereas in the past the budget was approved by the senate after the expenditure.
After this, a letter was issued to all the universities from the Governor’s Secretariat to prepare their budget for the next financial year 2021-22 in accordance with the priorities and requirements and present it in the Senate session by the end of June this year.
According to the schedule, out of the total 32 public sector universities in the province, Senate meetings of 22 universities have been held so far. The budget for the full year 2021-22 has been approved while the Senate meetings of the remaining universities will also be held in the next two days.
It should be noted that Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman has been taking serious and concrete steps from day one to get the higher educational institutions of the province out of financial problems. The Governor said that he wants to see all the universities financially and administratively strong and independent.
