The Islamabad Police today approved a recordbreaking 1,039 promotions for its officers and staff this year, a significant move aimed at filling numerous vacant positions within the force, according to an official statement.
The initiative was driven by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, who issued special directions to the Departmental Promotion Committee to convene meetings and expedite the process for all available posts.
In response, the committee held several sessions to meticulously review the service records of eligible personnel from various ranks. Recommendations for officers with strong service histories were then forwarded to the IGP for final endorsement.
Officials emphasized that the promotions were granted strictly on the basis of merit, transparency, and seniority, following a thorough assessment of candidates who met the required criteria.
The promotions span across nearly all levels of the force. This year’s advancements include 10 DSPs promoted to the rank of SP, 27 Inspectors to DSP, 94 SubInspectors to Inspector, and 189 ASIs to SubInspector. Furthermore, 311 Head Constables were elevated to ASI, 388 Constables to Head Constables, and 40 clerical staff members were also promoted to higher positions.
IGP Islamabad stated that departmental promotion is a basic right for every police officer and reflects an increase in responsibility and trust bestowed upon them.
He expressed his expectation that the newly promoted officers will carry out their official duties with dedication, professionalism, and honesty. He also reinforced that the welfare of the police force is a primary priority, affirming that the promotion process will continue until all vacant roles are filled.
