KARACHI:The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday barred the National Accountability Court (NAB) from arresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ‘s (PTI) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) and opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi till 27th November.
Avoiding the possible arrest by NAB, opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi, approached SHC for seeking a pre-arrest bail.
A two-member bench of the SHC, headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, heard the interim bail plea of Naqvi and granted him bail against the surety bond of Rs0.1 million. The court restrained the NAB from arresting Naqvi till November 27 and issued notices to the NAB and others seeking progress report.
The petitioner stated that the NAB has again sent him a call-up notice for summons. The AB is investigating the issue of allotment of land to Habib Group of Companies, the petitioner stated.
The petitioner’s counsel stated Habib Group of Companies was allotted land in 2006 on a 30-year lease. In 2006, Firdous Shamim Naqvi was a director of the Habib Group of Companies. It is feared that Naqvi may be arrested by the NAB, so the court is requested to stop the NAB from arresting the opposition leader, his lawyer pleaded.
