The inaugural session of the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) commenced today, marking the start of vital negotiations aimed at ensuring the equitable distribution of resources, fostering fiscal stability, and promoting sustainable economic growth across the country, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stated.

Chairing the meeting in the capital, the finance minister underscored the heightened significance of the constitutional gathering, noting that the term of the 10th NFC Award concluded on July 21 of this year.

Muhammad Aurangzeb conveyed that the federal administration was determined to initiate the proceedings for the 11th NFC without any delay, adding that the Prime Minister himself took a keen interest in ensuring the meeting took place as soon as possible.

He acknowledged the strong commitment demonstrated by the provinces in fulfilling this constitutional responsibility in a timely manner. The finance minister assured that the federal government would engage in discussions with an open mind and without bias, emphasizing a commitment to listen to the stance of the provinces.

He expressed confidence that the provincial representatives will also move forward with a spirit of constructive cooperation.

Aurangzeb appreciated the provinces for signing the National Fiscal Pact, describing it as a testament to a shared resolve and the collective ability to work together for the national interest.

He highlighted that the NFC forum provides a crucial opportunity to bring together the “best governmental minds to advance collective thinking and mutual learning,” with the ultimate goal being the successful finalization of matters pertaining to the 11th NFC Award.
