KARACHI:Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE) has launched Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), a five year degree program in a simple but highly dignified ceremony.
Prof Dr Abdul Ghaffar Billo, a renowned paediatric endocrinologist and philanthropist while inaugurating the ceremony, said DIHE had gone in history by joining hands with those working for the cause of humanity. Physical therapy has done wonders for ailing humanity. It has been a hope where no hopes were apparently seen, he said.
He emphasized on reserving seats for the people from remote areas of Sindh and Balochistan. Dr Billo shared some of his experiences about serious disabilities which were cured by physical therapy better known as Physiotherapy, with the audience. He assured the management of all his help and support for the degree program.
Miss Rabia Dadabhoy, Vice Chairperson DIHE BOG in a message defined the objectives of the institution which was to extend all help to support humanity. Dr S Altaf Hussain, Rector DIHE remarked that physiotherapists were mostly a diploma holders and were technically equipped. Now all the big hospitals and healthcare units have physiotherapy departments. This has opened new avenues for the paramedic graduates.
Dr Saad Ahmed Khan, Dean Faculty of Sciences described the idea of initiating the program. He thanked all the specialists for joining the occasion. Dr Ucksi Malik, a renowned specialists of sports medicines, termed the discipline as full of opportunities and assured all support to the newly formed department. The ceremony was attended by a big number of academics. The event ended with a cake cutting ceremony.
