Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have expressed their admiration for the proactive initiatives, resilience-building measures, and advanced preparedness strategies implemented by Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
This recognition was conveyed during separate visits by high-level parliamentary delegations from both nations to the NDMA Headquarters in Islamabad today. The Uzbek delegation, led by Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Nuriddin Ismoilov, and the Kazakh delegation, a 20-member state-level group headed by Secretary of the Security Council, Gizet Nurdauletov, also toured the National Emergencies Operations Center at the NDMA Headquarters.
During their visit, the guests received a briefing on Pakistan”s disaster management framework, highlighting NDMA’s role in coordinating disaster responses and the integration of technological advancements into early warning systems. Chairman NDMA, Lt General Inam Haider Malik, provided a detailed presentation on the nation”s disaster risk reduction strategies, coordination mechanisms during the Monsoon 2025, and the use of modern tools to enhance national preparedness and resilience.
The NDMA team elaborated on the development of disaster early warnings, risk communication, and relief operations being conducted in flood-affected regions. They emphasized the NDMA”s involvement in global disaster relief efforts, including Comprehensive International Simulation Exercises with regional partners like Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, aimed at sharing knowledge and best practices.
Both parties acknowledged the significance of strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation in disaster risk management, capacity building, and expertise exchange. These visits highlight the increasing regional unity among Central Asian countries and Pakistan in tackling common challenges posed by natural disasters and climate change through collaboration and mutual support.
