Khairpur:Two girls drowned in boat capsizing in flood water near Pirjo Goth on Thursday. Luckily, 28 other people were saved by villagers.
The residents of village Morr Jhabar Shaikh, including women and children, were shifting on a boat to safe area along protective dyke when their boat capsized. As a result, two girls Laila and Sindh Shaikh drowned. The villagers recovered the bodies of two girls and saved 28 other people.
A local administration official said that the boat was overload as 30 people were sailing on it. He said that the people had already been directed to shift due to the flood, but they were shifting late.
The bodies was brought to a local hospital for medico-legal and later handed over to the heirs. Police have started an investigation into the case. No case could be lodged till filing this report. The incident has created a mourning atmosphere.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed concern over the loss of lives in the boat capsizing. He said that local administration should take steps to avoid such incidents while the PPP leaders should look after the victim families.
