PESHAWAR:The drive against encroachment across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the direction of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has continued across the province.
The largest operation in this regard is underway in the Chief Minister’s home district of Swat, where in the first phase of the operation against illegal encroachments, illegal buildings and other infrastructures along the Swat River and other public places in Bahrain Tehsil were demolished for many years.
In the second phase of the operation against encroachments, apart from various areas of Babuzai Tehsil, operations against illegal constructions along the Swat River are underway and so far large buildings illegally constructed along the Swat River have been demolished for many years. 120 kanals of government lands have been relinquished while further operations are underway.
The teams from district administration, police, irrigation department and other departments participated in the operation against illegal occupation and encroachment on government lands, river banks and other public places.
In this regard, the Chief Minister in a statement said that the series of operations against encroachments, illegal constructions and seizure of government lands across the province will continue without any discrimination and no one should be allowed to occupy public places and government property. Will not be allowed under any circumstances.
He further said that the encroachments on the river banks would not only damage the local population and government infrastructure during the floods but also the loss of precious human lives so the river banks would be cleared of all kinds of encroachments.
