The Capital Police today claimed to have apprehended four individuals and recovered a substantial cache of firearms, ammunition, and a vehicle reportedly used in criminal activities, as part of an ongoing city-wide campaign against illegal armaments.
The arrests were made by a Phulgran police team during a search operation conducted under the “weapon-free city” initiative, which is progressing following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
Law enforcement officials have registered cases against the detained suspects, and a more detailed investigation into the matter has been launched.
SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza stated that a zero-tolerance policy against unlawful weapons is being strictly enforced. He reiterated that the protection of citizens” lives and property remains the foremost priority for the capital”s police force.
The SSP also urged residents to immediately register their legally-owned firearms at their respective police stations.
The Islamabad Police has appealed for public cooperation, encouraging citizens to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station or the “Pucar-15” helpline without delay.
