Lucknow, November 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):The police have registered a sedition case against four Muslims after Hindutva groups alleged that ‘Pakistan Flag’ was hoisted on the rooftop of a house in Uttar Pradesh, India. The residents of the house in Mundera Bazar in Gorakhpur city of the state told media that the flags had nothing to do with Pakistan. No Pakistan flag was found during a search of the two houses, the police said. The families handed over to the police four flags, which they said had been mistaken for the Pakistan flag.
A Hindutva VHP, Banjrang Dal, BJP, RSS, Shiv Sehna groups gathered outside two houses of Muslims and pelted them with stones. A four-wheeler belonging to one of the families was damaged in stone pelting, SHO of Chauri Chaura police station Shyam Bahadur Singh told media men.
The matter was resolved after the police lodged the FIR. Heavy police deployment has been made in the area, he added. Gorakhpur SSP Vipin Tada said the police were investigating the matter. Also, they were verifying the writing in Urdu found on one of the flags handed over to them. The men booked by the police have been identified as Talim, Pappu, Ashiq and his brother Asif.
