Asserting that genuine progress is impossible without the full participation of women, Senator Qurat-Ul-Ain Marri delivered a powerful message on behalf of Pakistan at the global Women Political Leaders (WPL) Summit in Montenegro, linking the nation’s future directly to female inclusion in governance.

Representing the country, Senator Marri presented the National Delegation Statement at the summit, which was co-hosted by WPL and the Parliament of Montenegro under the theme ‘Future Positive: Building Trust, Driving Progress.’ The event gathered prominent female leaders from around the world to deliberate on inclusive pathways to development.

In her address, the senator articulated that trust and advancement in Pakistan are fundamentally connected to the country’s enduring struggle for democracy, equality, and justice. She underscored that women, who constitute half the population, embody the aspirations of coming generations.

Invoking a historic example of female leadership, Marri referenced the legacy of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, whose courage, vision, and compassion fostered public trust and fortified democratic institutions.

She pointed out that women parliamentarians in Pakistan are carrying this legacy forward. They are actively championing crucial legislation related to child protection, education, health, climate resilience, and digital inclusion, thereby ensuring that marginalized voices are central to the governing process.

The senator’s statement urged for bridging the divides between rural and urban populations, between men and women, and between citizens and their government, advocating for a policy framework that keeps people at its core.

Reaffirming the nation’s stance, Senator Marri concluded that Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening democracy and driving progress toward an inclusive, just, and hopeful future for all its citizens.
