Govt determined to minimize current account deficit: Miftah 

Islamabad, July 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):Finance Minister Miftah Ismael says the incumbent government has saved the country from default by implementing prudent economic policies. Addressing a news conference along with Coordinator to Prime Minister on Economy and Energy Bilal Kayani in Islamabad on Sunday, he said country’s import bill has decreased by 2.7 billion dollars in the current month as the country imported goods worth five billion dollars only in this month as compared to 7.7 billion dollars in the previous month.

The Minister said with decreasing imports, pressure on Pakistan’s economy will be reduced from the next month. Miftah Ismael said Economic Coordination Committee has approved to remove ban on imports except cars, mobile phones and home appliances. He said government is determined to minimize the current account deficit and steps are being taken to widen the tax net.
