Home minister orders high security alert across Sindh

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Thursday ordered high security alert across Sindh province until further notices.

According to a statement issued by the Sindh home ministry today, Lanjar said strict and effective provincial-level security arrangements should also be ensured on the occasion of Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary.

He said that a large number of devotees traveling to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh from across the country should be taken into account in security measures while convoys arriving there from other provinces must be provided district-level security.

He said that encroachments along the routes leading to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh and Naudero should be removed immediately. Parking areas should be established at appropriate distances, with strict monitoring, he added.

The home minister said that intelligence activities in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Naudero, and the surrounding areas must be intensified while the process of gathering and followup on information should be timely and effective.

“Citizens are urged to immediately report suspicious items, parcels, bags, or abandoned vehicles or motorcycles to the police by calling Helpline 15, the minister concluded.
