Indian Forces Kill Tribal Women Amid Tensions in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Indian forces personnel killed two tribal women in the disturbed Chhattisgarh state. This incident adds to the ongoing tensions in the region, which has seen a significant use of force by the government against what it describes as dissent.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the two women were killed during a cordon and search operation by the Indian CRPF’s elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action in the Gariaband district of the state.

Simultaneously, at the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border, an encounter resulted in the deaths of 14 Naxalites, including a leader with a bounty of ?1 crore on their head. These operations reflect the state’s increasing employment of force in dealing with opposition.

The ongoing violence has been interpreted as part of a broader pattern of state actions perceived as authoritarian, often targeting minorities and suppressing opposition voices. While Prime Minister Modi’s BJP and RSS assert a commitment to democratic values, their policies have faced criticism for allegedly violating minority rights and employing severe measures against dissent.

The international community’s attention is drawn to these developments, raising concerns about human rights and security strategies in the region.
