Srinagar,
February 01, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leader and the
Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has
said that India’s stubborn attitude is a threat to regional peace. Mukhtar
Ahmad Waza addressing a public gathering at Jamia Masjid, Kanelwan in Bijbehra
said dealing Kashmir militarily has not only created death and destruction in
the territory but also endangered the peace in the region. He said Kashmir is a
bone of contention between the two nuclear powers of the region and its
amicable settlement can bring a new era of peace, stability and development in
the whole South Asia.
He
expressed serious concern over the plight of illegally detained Kashmiri political
prisoners and demanded their immediate release. He said that majority of the
Kashmiri prisoners had been shifted from the Kashmir valley to various prisons
of Jammu region and India in violation of the Geneva Conventions and the
verdict of Indian Supreme Court.
Meanwhile,
the JKPL spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the arrest of
party Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza’s nephew in Seer Hamdan area of Islamabad.
He said that Indian forces personnel raided the residence of Mukhtar Ahmad Waza’s
late sister’s residence in Seer Hamdan area of Islamabad and arrested Waza’s
nephew, Zulfikar Ahmad Mir and lodged him in police station, Mattan. The
forces’ personnel also harassed members of the family.
