KARACHI:Universities teachers who conducted online classes during lockdown and closer of academic institutions to save the students’ academic year are also our national heroes, which should be acknowledged by our national media in its programs.
It is a matter of great satisfaction for us that Higher Education Commission (HEC) has included Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) Karachi among 10 best universities to make online education program a success under guidelines provided by the commission.
These views were expressed by President, MAJU Prof. Dr. Zubair Shaikh while addressing the online 8th Academic Council session of the university today.
All Deans, Heads of Department, Directors and Registrar academic were present on this occasion. Addressing the Academic Council session, Dr. Zubair Shaikh said that they had already planned to launch online education before COVID 19 pandemic.
He said that at the start of online classes during present Semester Spring-20, they provided every possible help to the students related to a connectivity issue, internet availability, putting all necessary lectures on MAJU website and providing laptops to students on their demand.
He said that they also guided the faculty members to continue online classes without any hurdles. The Academic Council also granted approval of the launching of new degree programs of MS Management Sciences, MS Information Science, BS Information Technology, BS Business Informatics, BS Economics and Social Development and Associate Degree in Computing from next subject to approval of HEC.
During the session present degree programs of Life Sciences, Computing and Engineering and Business Administration and Social Sciences faculties were also reviewed and suggested some amendments in Program Learning Objectives. (PLOs) Directors, Quality Enhancement Cell, (QEC) Office of the Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) and Center for Executive Learning, Diversity and Developments (CELDD) also presented performance reports of their organizations.
Academic Council also approved admission policy for next semester Fall-20, degree programs to be offered, eligibility of the candidates, admission test, facilities and scholarships and date of the start of new semester.
