PML-F leader seeks rightful share of water to Sindh

The central vice president of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, Pir Yasir Sain, on Sunday urged the government to immediately cancel the plan to construct six more canals on the Indus River in Punjab and provide the people of Sindh with their rightful share of water to alleviate the growing unrest.

This he said in a meeting with Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leader Shah Nawaz Brohi in Karachi. Pir opposed the construction of more canals on Indus River and said that if new canals were constructed from the Indus River, major cities in Sindh and Balochistan would face severe water shortages.

He further stated that the elders of the Sindh region had rendered significant sacrifices for the country, which could never be forgotten. He also emphasized that the country needed good politicians, not contractors.

“At present, the middle class, peasants, landowners, and laborers are in great distress, which is solely due to the corrupt rulers’ wrong policies,” he said.

Engineer Yunus Brohi, Faqeer Ameen, and Ali Khan were also present at the meeting.
