Peshawar, December 27, 2018 (PPI-OT): As per directives of the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood the crackdown against the electricity theft and WAPDA recovery has further intensified throughout the province. In the ongoing campaign the police has registered 845 cases under the relevant law against the violators found involved in Kunda culture and other kind of electricity theft and arrested 611 culprits charged in the FIRs during the month of November and December.
According to details, in order to tighten the noose around the neck of the elements involved in use of WAPDA electricity through different illegal means the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police as per policy of the govt has launched a campaign against the violators. In the campaign the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police is going from door to door and registering cases against the illegal users of electricity. In this connection the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police during the month of November and December registered 845 cases against electricity theft and took into custody 611 persons charged in these cases.
The police also took into position 2003 meter wire being used for illegal connection from the WAPDA installations. The police during WAPDA recovery campaign, also helped WAPDA in depositing of Rs. 3,26,81,468 in the national exchequers from the defaulters. It is worth mentioning that police and WAPDA have started a joint campaign against the electricity theft. Different police teams have been formed at each and every police station level which are conducting raids on daily basis in their respective jurisdiction and taking action against the Kunda culture and electricity theft without any discrimination.
