Islamabad, December 24, 2019 (PPI-OT): The role of mosque and Ulemas is pivotal in addressing social issues by sensitizing masses and spreading public awareness, for which a comprehensive policy framework must be developed through collaboration of Ministries of Religious Affairs, Health, Education, Climate Change and Council of Islamic Ideology, said President Dr. Arif while chairing a meeting attended by Minister of Religious Affairs Pir Noor ul Haq Qadri, SAPM on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza and Chairman, Council of Islamic Ideology Dr. Qibla Ayaz. The President said that Islam had laid great emphasis on social issues such as Taharat, inheritance rights of women, and conservation of environment and water, therefore he added that mosques could provide a potent platform to address these issues in a more effective way.
He further said that there was a dire need to start training courses for Ulemas and Khateebs to keep them abreast about these challenges. The President said that addressing these issues, relevant Islamic teachings on these important social matters must be disseminated in an effective manner to motivate people to fulfill their responsibilities and obligations. The meeting was briefed about the steps being taken by their respective ministries/departments to address these challenges.
