ISLAMABAD: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has hailed the Federal Government’s decision not to import Cotton from India.
He was chairing a meeting of Agricultural Committee at Governor’s House Lahore on Saturday. The Committee recommended Federal government to set official cotton price as five thousand rupees.
It also recommended provision of subsidy directly to farmers, to encourage them. In his address, Chairman China Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC Authority, Lt Gen r Asim Saleem Bajwa said China is providing cooperation for research and machinery to boost cotton production.
He said CPEC Authority is ready to provide full support for every sector. Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister Syed Fakhar Imam said government is standing on back of farmers and will not leave them alone.
